I dropped the SM420 out of my GMC,got some measurements for driveline length for the Saginaw I'm putting back in with the 270.Cleaned and re-filled the oil bath filter for the six, then spent an hour trying to figure out how to convert my trucks pull type throttle to the sideways push type the 270 needs. Gave up on that for now.(Maybe change over to a 70's cable set up?)Pulled the clutch off the 270 to see what shape it's in. Looks relatively new,but I think the disc was in backwards. The springs were toward the flywheel, just looked wrong to me. The flywheel shows lots of cracks on the friction surface. Hope it can still be turned. The pilot bearing is a loose slip fit into the end of the crank. How can I tighten it up?
looked at the possibility of installing an oil filter on the 270. Not sure where the lines go.
Tried to fit a vacuum advance line to the distributor, but the fittings are wrong. Looked at the fuel pump, can a 235 fuel pump be used on a 270? I have a nearly new one of those.
Also fixed my sister's glasses.
