I replaced the faulty power steering pump and cranked her up. She ran great, smooth as glass. You could hear the cam lope.
I actually put her in drive and moved her out of the garage. I didn't go anywhere, just out on the driveway. The gauges looked good, oil pressure at around 65/70, amps working, and temp at 170 then 180 then 190. She was heating up and I shut her down. I have a pull fan and with the air conditioner condenser in the front of the radiator covering the top half, I believe I can add two small fans under the condenser. I’ll also change thermostats to a 160 degree. That should solve the overheating problem. I noticed the power steering, at first startup, was a little jerky when moving the wheels to the right. After driving out to the driveway it quit working altogether. I noticed a small leak on one of the p.s. pump’s lines. This however shouldn’t be the problem as the pump remained close to full of fluid. I also noticed a tiny water leak at the temp sending unit. Tomorrow I’ll check out the p.s. pump and see about getting those twin fans. I would post pics but I forgot to take any. I did take video with my digital camera and will post on You Tube as soon as I figure out how to post there.
