I finally got round to attending to a couple of electrical gremlins.
My fuel gauge had been playing up,the gauge istself checked out as OK so it was down to the sender or wiring,only snag was i'd boxed the whole gas tank in.
After an hour or so I found the culprit,a bad/loose ground,an easy fix but thanks to the boxing a simple 5 minute job turned into a marathon,the flickering brake light issue was down to the same problem,but much easier to cure.

Lesson for today,always check your grounds are good!
