Was looking under the hood of my '55 2nd 3100, admiring my handiwork, when I noticed the alternator was hanging at a funny angle. Seems the long 3/8 pivot bolt had snapped off back inside the head. Im thinkin that I am pretty much SOL, no room to get a drill anywhere near enough to drill for a easy out, without taking half the front end off. Just for giggles I squirt some penetrating oil on the bolt fragment, which has broken off about 1/8in back in the hole. I take a screwdriver and start turning it in the hole, not really thinking that this is going to work. Darn if that thing doesn't look like it is closer to the surface now? Grab the broken bolt and stick it in the hole, and turn the broken part right on out! Maybe I need to head to Vegas?
