I put my slightly improved health to the test on Sunday . I had the right axle break on the truck , at 70kph!

It took about 50meters to stop and was one of those times I wished I had a dash cam , as the rear wheel (with half an axle attached) trundled on by me .

After calming myself for a while , I waited for a friend to come past , I was sure one would , and yes some 40mins later , .

He took me home and we gathered the necessary parts and tools .

So the axle change was easy , getting the truck up off the ground was more difficult , then I found the U bolts had been ground away to almost nothing , so I wrapped a chain around the spring and axle and tip toed home (25km)

Got new U bolts made today and fitted them .

ALL GOOD ................ phew!
