My transmission is still on the fritz so I can't drive it but in first or second gear, but I did enjoy washing the old truck yesterday and making it look shiny again. Then took a bit of rubbing compound to the hood and front fenders, then followed that with a good slathering of Turtle wax, then buffed it out to a really nice shine. I'll try to do the rest of the truck next weekend. The stomp starter had been feeling a bit different lately so I took a close look and noticed that the cotter pins holding the linkage to the starter had become bound. So I made a trip to Harbor Freight and bought a boxed assortment of those new pins that took the place of Cotter pins. Cleaned up the linkage shaft on the wire wheel then did the same with the spring. Put it all back together with the pins and it works perfect! Sure felt good to work on the old truck.
