Finished putting my rear leaf springs together. All sanded down flat over past several weeks. Shiny black primer. Leaf spring liner. Tracking down new pins and bushings. CONTRARY to some peoples opinions, the cast iron shackle had bushings in it. Mine where ovaled and I removed them (2 per shackle 7/8" ID x 1" OD x 1 1/8" long... 1/4" gap in center for grease). They had GM stamped on the inside below an 8 inside a star. I doubt anybody but GM would stamp such a thing, and confirms my thought that they are ORIGINAL GM.

Pulled the hubs / drums and backing plates off the rear axle. The axles look good. The bearings look good. The oil seals look good. The inside of the drum is smooth and shiney (i.e. doesn't need to be turned). The brake shoes look pretty good, but I'll get them relined anyway, as they are off and it's not too inconvenient. Cylinder outer seals look bad, so will rebuild them. Rest of the brake internals look good.

I wire brushed off the housing around the hubs and primered it.

Brake lines are bad. Need to get some new ones.
