We're getting ready to remodel showers in two bathrooms, so I painted the walls in preparation.

Sounds like backwards, but the plan is forward thinking.

I looks like my mom. who is 92, may come to live with us. She is sharp as the best knife in the drawer, only takes 1/4 of an asprin for the occasional headache, and still drives.

The thing is, she doesn't need to be doing that, and Irma and I can help--make sure she eats properly (she doesn't because it is too much trouble to fix for one person at her age), see to it that she doesn't sit around the house, and let her enjoy the time instead of having to manage a house, get the yard cut and cleaned, fix the fence when it falls down, buy a new water heater, pay the bills and all the rest of the stuff one has to do to maintain the "pride of ownership."

So, take out the bathtub and build a step-in shower. That's fairly easy today with the modular shower stuff available at the Depot or Lowes. Just costs a few more bucks to have a plumber do it right in a week than have me tear it all out and spend 2 years trying to put it back. The plumber guy says the painting worn't get mussed up during tear out and replacement more than can be repainted, so lets do it!

Anyway, the manager of this house has authorized the expenditure, so who am I to complain!

I still had to make a trip to the fix-it store in the '46 for paint, tape, a roller, and assorted stuff, so I've had enough fun to offset the painting job.
