Aside from all the stuff Peggy mentioned at the top, I did manage to get the '49 3800 started, drove it around to warm it up (and charge the battery) and then I changed the oil and filter. Did that late yesterday. I was feeling pretty good, so I decide to replace the spacer between the carb and the intake manifold -- it was broken in two places and cracked in a third! That could explain a few things...

So, feeling like John the Master Mechanic, I filled the antifreeze and water back in the JD 420 and tried to start it (the one I've been slowly trying to repair since it hit a tree back in the spring) -- no joy. no spark at the plugs. Could the coil have gone bad? I might borrow the coil out of the '49 and try that later today if I get all my farmwork done I need to do.

I've been up since about 0630 working on new Links and redesigning the Homepage (the site is getting a makeover/refresh for 2005 to celebrate our 10th year) and now I'm sick of sitting infront of the computer and I want to go play outside.
