I finally got round to taking my gas tank to work with a view to steam cleaning it inside and out.
Using a soft rubber mallet,i worked my way around bumping the metal,to loosen up any scale and crud.

Long story short I dropped about 3lbs of cr*p out the filler neck
and that's before I even touched it with the steam cleaner.

I think i'm going to have to err on the safe side and drop some $$$ on a new tank.
I've heard good things about Spectra tanks.
So.....Back to the perennial problem of shipping,import duty and taxes, Oh Joy!
