It was just the cable. The clip isn't clamping down enough to hold the cable in one spot, so it is sliding in the clip. It was all messed up under there. I need to re-route the cable and add something to aid in the clamping pressure of the clip so the cable stays put. I will keep the solenoid in mind, though, in case something happens in the future that isn't cable-related.
