FINALLY got my 3 speed shifter box fixed, thanks to the link below showing pics of the correct spring placement. I've been messing around with this for two years, and putting up with the random sticking in gear, having to get out of the truck, pop the hood and jiggle to linkage into neutral. Someone, long ago, had installed the spring with its tail tension pushing against the 1st-Reverse shifter arm. I had no reference, as no manual I've seen has had a picture in which you can really see the spring. The tail is supposed to be on the floor of the shifter box. Wow, do I feel terrific about this. Problem solved...it shifts like a dream. Thanks for that pic!
