I have been sanding and preparing the wood for my bedrails. After sanding down each piece to a smooth finish I pulled down my Minwax Helmsman Spar Urethane to find a half gallon left over from treating my bed-wood over a year ago. As I applied the urethane I noticed small bits of dried product on the wood. Rather than stopping and dealing with the urethane I continued to treat one side of each piece of wood. After drying I could tell I would need to re-sand. I re-sanded and filtered the urethane through cheesecloth and reapplied. The result was better but the problem then seemed to be that the urethane was too thick. *SOLUTION*
I went back into the house and took a 4 hour break.
Then I visited Home Depot where I bought lots of sandpaper and a new qt. of urethane. Tomorrow is a new day...
