Sadly it seems the starters of today are not the starters of yesterday. That's just my opinion. I have thought many times the crappy starters are a mechanic's dream. They come with a long warranty but if you are not mechanically tuned you'll pay to have them installed. My 86 Grand Waggoneer with a 360 cid coughed up at least 8 starters by the time I sold it in 2006. I got pretty good bolting them on. If there was an Olympic "installing starters" game I'd have several gold metals.
