Simple stuff, but I finally replaced the choke cable on my '50. The previous owner had disconnected the original and left it in the dash. He had added one of the cheap parts store cables and had it mounted pointing down in the bottom lip of the dash. It was VERY difficult to work, and resulted in the truck being hard to cold-start due to the choke not closing all the way. I put a new OE style item from The Filling Station in the original location, lubed with the graphite powder for Pinewood Derby axles. It's super smooth and easy to work. I drove it last weekend, and parked it all week. Yesterday it was chilly (for Houston) and the truck had been sitting a week- with a properly functioning choke, it started after only a couple revolutions of the starter. New choke should've been the first or second thing I did after buying the truck! Sometimes the simplest things can make me happy...
