Well, I had a set of 4 new Goodyear Wrangler tires installed yesterday at Walley World. Paid to have 4 new valve stems installed as well, but while watching the tech go about his business I noticed that he wasn’t installing the new stems. I inquired why and he said the work order didn’t include them. Off to the office I went to ask what was going on. She showed him that I was correct, so back to the truck he went. In no time at all he was back in the front office to explain that there were no valve stems in the shop of the type necessary and specified in the work order. The assistant manager was summoned and, after being explained the situation, asked me if I could go out to another store and buy some and bring them back so they could finish the installation. I told him my only transportation was up on his rack. I suggested we could get for stems from Discount Tire, but I had no way of getting there. The manager quickly volunteered to drive me there in his Jeep, which he did. We quickly purchased 4 of the correct size valve stems, and he dropped me off at my house on his way back to Walmart. My wife and I had a Christmas party to attend an hour away and I was running out of time! He and I had agreed that he would take the stems back and they would finish the job, then would push the truck out into the parking lot, lock it up, and we could stop by on our way back from the party to pay the invoice and drive the truck home. Sure enough, when we got there after the party the truck was where it was supposed to be, and we quickly went to the service desk and settled up. It was a very unconventional way to get a new set of tires, but everything turned out OK in the end.
