Mounted my replacement alternator Got a brand new chromed one with a 2 inch mounting spacer. Then putting a lazer pointer in the pully of the old 6 volt generator messured how much pully was from bracket. Did the same on the new alternator in reverse marked and cut the 2 inch spacer . Measured too make sure wasnt cutting into body of alternator ( 2 inch spacer is 1 inch cast into the body of the alternator and 1 inch over hanging supported by lighweight cast in webs ) cut back too correct measurement. Drilled holes on old bracket too take 8 1/2 inch piece of all thread, locked it into place using 3 nuts and washers. Slid alternator onto all thread secured with lock nut , took off old generator adjustment bracket flipped it over and matches new Alternator offset perfect. Put laser pointer in water pump grove and shone it on Alternator pully perfect alinement , Put Standard belt back on tightens up perfect , all secure and very solid. Am very happy with result and didnt cost anything too do
