OK, lets talk hoists. I've re-read the previous posts but I didn't see where you mentione the brand, model, type, etc of the hoist. But let me asssume for the moment that it is a twin arm underbody. Given the age my next assumption is (yeah, I know how you spell assume)that it is single acting. That being the case you will then find that there is a plug on the cylinder near the head and that is where you add oil. It is simply pumped from one end of the cylinder to the pressurized (bottom) side. As for draining oil, you guessed it..get a five gallon bucket and open the hoses at the pump Typically there is a small breather on the cylinder to let out trapped air and then you just cycle it a number of times to remove the remaining air. If your unlucky enough to have a manifold mounted pump attached to the base of the cylinder then it gets more involved since there are no hoses. No filters on these old hogs either. Enjoy :rolleyes:
