I did my shop with 2” pvc pipe then down to 1.5. I had the drops at each station and at the compressor drain the moisture. Never had any issues with it.
PLEASE get rid of that pvc pipe. It's NOT approved for compressed air use and can explode if it fails. The air builds up energy that gets released on a failure. We'd rather not hear about a Stovebolter getting injured or killed.
Other plastic pipe materials that are approved for compressed air service could be used.
I won't even use PVC for water service. It's way too brittle.
