I'm using 14 gauge to the tail lights. I think my wiring harness has a mix of 14 and 16 gauge wires. My car hauler flat bed trailer uses 16 gauge wire, so I'm thinking 16 would work on the truck. I went with 14 to be on the safe side. FYI - I did see that the wire on my new tail lights were only 18 gauge.
