"Guitplayer" - I saw how close the holes were to the edge and I thought I could hide them under the angle strips. No one would ever see them, but guilt got the best of me. I was just going to replace the outside boards with new, but my cabinet guy ran the boards on his jointer to remove the finish on the sides and then glued on a 3/8" strip. I'm finishing the boards right now and if (for some reason) I don't feel good about it, I'll get new boards. These are looking OK right now and I'll post some pictures when the varnish dries. Your right - my attempt at a shortcut wasn't worth it.
thanks...I`m trying to follow your DIY. Looks like a cool truck!!! I know some glues are real strong nowadays and that extension he will add will work. I know there is alot of stress right there at the angle strip. Keeping the box mostly together. Good Luck!!
