Mike - Thanks for the level of detail. I didn't consider the fixture being refitted - duh. You've put a lot of effort into it and I don't see why anyone could give you any grief over having a third brake light.
So maybe I misunderstood your predicament to be that it was only this light wasn't working. Was it all 3 not lighting up, or just the center one???
