Mike - The idea with the third brake light is great. From your picture it looks like just 1 wire to that light. With the light housing itself mounted to the wood stake front panel, what are you using to ground the fixture??? Your one wire is power in, but you need a connection from the light fixture itself to the metal of the truck/chassis to complete the circuit.
