Hey Everybody, quick update time. Just finished repairing the passenger side running board. It was really a mess. The channel that strengthens the part was completely rotted away. The top was also rusted through and crammed full of blobs of body filler.... Also, the center mounting bracket was rusted in half and unusable. The removed parts are in pic 1. So, I cut them out and welded in replacements. Primed and painted the underside and top plus brushed on a coat of bedliner on the top. I'm hoping it will provide a non-skid surface. After that, it just bolted in place with new nuts and bolts. To be honest, the repaired running board is a 20 footer. I made no attempt to hide the repairs. Instead, I ground off the high spots of the welds and painted it up. The repaired running board is shown in pic 2 after being reinstalled. And then there was one. One part left for metal working. It is the driver side rear fender. The mounting flange is not good. Plus there is a rust through area that will need fixing. Definitely light at the end of the bodywork tunnel! What a process!!! It's actually a great example of eating the elephant one bite at a time.
