I started on the LH door today and, oh boy, is the rust worse than I expected. The skin had a couple pin holes but after poking around a lot more issues reared their heads. I have since cut out the bottom rear corner. I tried to open it up as non-invasively as possible but the rust was too much. Out it came. Next, I will need to cut out the underside of the front corner, fix pin holes along the underside, and also figure out how I'm going to do all this. I was frustrated as I pondered this, so I changed gears.
I hammered and dollied a few dents along the crease line on the front LH fender lip. What a dirty bugger. I got it very close to where I can just feel the imperfections. It should be good enough with a little file work. I then cut the bottom rear off the front LH fender and proceeded to make a patch for it. I had to separate the skin overlap and then repair the underlying rust and then fab a new piece to lay back over. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and I hope I can use the lesson here for the up coming door issues.
Today started out rough but ended very well. The front LH fender is done!
