You're right, it's an ON/ON transition. I ran into that when I was originally bench testing the relays I sent to John. It flashed off, but just barely enough to be seen. That's why I pulled the connection off of 87, but then there wasn't a feed to the brake/turn unless the brake switch was on.
I think the two relay setup with constant power from the turn signal switch and two additional flashers for the front bulbs or your 4-relay setup is the only way it's going to work. The downside with John's 700 switch is the pilots will be on constantly when the switch is in left or right (without monkeying with the switch circuitry.)
