John, your project got me thinking, so I sketched up a wiring diagram (not sure if I have the diode direction correct.) The downside is that when the brakes are applied, the rear turn signals won't flash like they would with a 7-wire turn signal switch (like the one Jerry posted a link to.) If you don't care if your rear turn signals don't work with the brakes applied, then you're good to go.
