Joker......Well, I guess I need to go measure the distance from the closest header pipe to the solenoid, and give an exact distance since "close" is very vague.

However, the headers have been on for 25 years, and never created any problems at all with the starting system. Yep, this problem flared up about a year ago with no warning.

Another test that I need to do is to park her on a hillside when hot, and turn off the key. If she does not want to crank with the starter, I can try roll-starting. If she fires right up with a slow rolling start, then I would think its not the engine internals, but its gotta be the starter/starting system. Valid assumption?
