I tried the heat shield to my starter, re wrapped exhaust pipes, etc.. not saying this is your problem but it sounded like mine,
how long does it have to cool down before it will crank..

I guess if one wanted to go to the extreme one might think timing or weak timing chain but that would be really extreme.
