Test the battery- - - -properly. I have a sneaky suspicion the overvoltage situation you encountered some time ago has damaged the cells, and the battery only has enough capacity to make one or two cold starts. Disable the ignition and crank the engine for 15-20 seconds, then check the battery terminal voltage while the starter is still turning. The terminal voltage should not drop below 9.5 volts.

If the battery passes the cold cranking test (doubtful) do the same 15 second cranking test with a hot engine. I predict the voltage will fall flat within 5 seconds or so.

Then go buy a battery.
