You can try:
1. lower the idle speed.
2. Tighten headers.
3. Exchange starter for a new one
4. Come home from test drive, have another battery ready, try starting.
5. Be sure fuel line not near headers.
6. If it starts cold, runs good, good power, can't see valves bad enough to do that. but maybe. You are not ready to go there yet.
7. Try retard timing 2-4 deg.
8. Do the Ford relay trick.
9. Lower the idle speed.
10. Drop back 5 yards and punt.
