Separating the intake and exhaust manifold might be easy; however, it was not easy on a few of my manifold assemblies.

Did you have the intake/exhaust manifolds apart?
If you did, try JW51s suggestion (maybe with a new gasket, unless you trust the old gasket).

Or:

1. try two manifolds-head gaskets and tighten gradually, "in several steps", from the inside outwards.

2. if that does not seal, have a machine shop machine the mating surface (head-to-manifolds surface) on the manifold assembly.
