IMHO the valve in pic "7" looks like it has a good sealing surface. The other pics don't look quite right, it almost looks like the valve vs seat angle is off or the compound is not "cutting". Of all the valves that I have lapped, I always used grinding compounds that came in two grits. Coarse and Fine. Start off with coarse and finish off with the fine. My lapping compounds are oil based, I have no experience with water based compounds. I use a Zim egg beater valve lapping tool and it beats the heck out of the old stick and rubber cup. I test for sealing by filling the combustion chamber with a little bit of mineral spirits/solvent. All in all I agree with you, some thing is definitely off.
