This topic is like a sore that won't heal. Somehow Chevrolet service technicians got them on and off for decades and I doubt many of them told the customer that drilling and tapping of the crankshaft would be necessary. This method has worked for me several times with very little effort.
1.Turn stove on medium heat and place on burner with hub side down.
2.Lift pc. and hold for 5 seconds every 30. When you have to set back down immediately it's ready.
3.Put on a pair of oven mitts and slide it on. Keep a deadblow mallet handy in case it needs a couple taps to seat it.
4.Too much heat will melt the timing cover seal so don't over do it.
