I have to agree with the hammer, unless you want to drill the crank, there is absolutely nothing to get a purchase on. There is no other real choice other than that tool someone mentioned. The only variable here is whether you heat it or not.
I did read what you said, it doesn't explain any thing, balance and damping are two entirely different things. They work together to create a smooth running machine, however they are not interchangeable in the context you were attempting to put them in.
