I have to agree with the hammer, unless you want to drill the crank, there is absolutely nothing to get a purchase on. There is no other real choice other than that tool someone mentioned. The only variable here is whether you heat it or not.
For those with a good sense of timing and some understanding of the result/effect of heating steel the only tool required is oven mitts.
