Propane is plenty hot enough to do that job. It can get sheet metal red hot. I would NOT use Oxy-Propane or Oxy-Acetylene. We also used to use an Air-Acetylene torch, because it was quicker, and we were in a production scenario. Waveski, your joint looks worse than Otto's. That dark center section looks like it never got solder to it.
