Ok, now I have something exciting. In the previous post, I mentioned the swelled out sections of the frame back by the rear end. I welded my first boxing plates in like this a few days ago and it’s been bugging me ever since.
So the first thing I did when I went inside the shop was to cut one the passenger side boxing plates loose, ground everything flat and re-beveled my mating edges. I then squared down from the top of the C channel and marked the bottom where I needed to cut it. Mr Sawzall took care of the excess. After that bit of surgery, the plate fit much better, and I was much happier with the way it looks. By the end of my work day, I had 3 of the four plates stitched to the C channel and ready to final weld.
