I can see the advantage of that, BD, but I like the doodadery of this setup, so I'll have fun when I get it working.
Thank you to Fred/rfs56trk for suggesting and telling me how to bypass and disconnect the kickdown switch. I did that. My under the truck check of grounding the governor did make the solenoid work, but for my test drive the very first engagement popped the fuse again.
The research will continue. Next I will look at why my relay test did not go as described in the manual.
