When I was first driving my Model A to college (normally a 1-1/2 hour trip) it had a clogged radiator. I would run till it started steaming, pull over and refill the radiator. The trip took about 4 hours with the stops to fill the radiator. Once I got the radiator re-cored, things were fine.
Your 10 mile trip with some extra water should go fine.
