I've lowered my '64 years ago using a spring kit with out any negative consequences. If anything, it rides and handles a whole lot better. Granted, I didn't drop it to the ground, just 4 inches. It put it's stance and ride heighth where it should be. Also, it aligns up just fine. Just a matter of taste whether you want to drive an old school truck or moderize it for better handling. I personally believe a truck with a lower center of gravity with wider tires on the ground and fresh suspension parts to go with the springs would be safer on the road, not more dangerous.
