21 March 2007 Update

From: Scott:

Here's a picture of one of my Big Bolts hard at work! I usually haul wood with this one. This load, however, consisted mostly of a 1964 and a 1966 C10 truck, minus the engines and transmissions. There's two full frames, cabs, front clips, front suspensions and a rear-end set up on there. Added to that are some leftovers from several other projects. The load ended up weighing 3000 pounds.

That red '48 is still a 235 ci powered truck with a 4 speed and a hydraulic dump bed. Getting the load there (about 20-25 miles from home) was a little nerve racking just hoping it would all stay put. The drive home after dark with 6-volt headlights was about as bad.

From: Scott:

As my forum name (48bigtrucks) indicates, I have two 1948 trucks (Check the other one, too -- Editor).

This is my second 1948 1 1/2-ton Loadmaster. This one is bone stock original.

A retired farmer had it in his barn when I found it. It was only used in the fall to haul grain in from the fields. It has 18K original miles on it. He sold it to me for $750 and I drove it home. The only thing I've done to it since is a complete brake overhaul, changed the intake/exhaust gaskets, replaced the rest of the exhaust and service all of the fluids and filters.

Thanks for posting my trucks. I'm especially proud of this find.

Besides the two '48's, in March 2006, Scott got himself a '55 Chevy 1st Series 5700 COE from a fellow Stovebolter. In November, Scott added a 1963 Chevy K20 to the Gallery. And don't forget to check the Alternative Gallery for his stuff. This man likes to work! ~~ Editor
