Jerry, you're being a bit harsh!...Personal taste in rides, remember.
However, you are correct concerning the geometry and alignment questions.
Lowered spindles are a better way to go to get the front dropped with-out messing up the ride etc. There are spings out there that will bring the back end down. Often lowering blocks are added between the trailing arms and the axle (Which really just lift the axle up) to bring the back end down. Don't cut the back springs as they are tapered.
