Still awaiting the oil pump. I'm told they're still on factory back order.
I went through the oil pump I do have and unfortunately theres side play in the shaft, enough to see the drive gear move when meshed with the driven gear. Other than that it looked pretty good considering it's age. Wonder if theres a bushing kit for them?
After reading the engine ID thread on page 1 currently, I went and checked the head numbers on this 54 235 engine I'm rebuilding.
They are:
Head: 3836848, GM23, E65, CON 9
Block: 031664ET54X CON 2
I don't know the full history of this engine so either I have a later model head on a 54 block or these supposed later version high compression 3836848 heads came on 54's also.
