Graham, the pistons measured out to be std size (approx 3.55"). Don't know how many miles that engine had but it looks like it was run for about as long as it could be on the original build.
A couple questions for those in the know.
Question #1, will this 54 bell housing w/new 54 motor mounts bolt up to the 49's rear engine crossmember mounts -or- will I have to swap bell housing from the 49 216?
Question #2. Will the 54's flywheel and clutch assembly work if I have to swap to the 49 216's bell housing -or- will I have to go w/the smaller 216's flywheel and clutch assembly?
I've got an assembly manual and it seems to indicate that the rear mountings are the same but there is a difference in rear motor mounts from 53 to 54 in the after market parts manuals.
Still awaiting word on the crank....
