I say anyone who values tools and has use for a ratchet could use and appreciate a 3/8" Snap-On ratchet. You can enjoy it for years and years even if only used occasionally and your kids and or grand kids can do the same.
If price is a problem look on ebay for a slightly older one, they can be found quite reasonable.

When assembling my tool kit years ago one of my first purchases was a long handled 3/8" Snap-On ratchet. My Dad's tool kit is mostly all old craftsman stuff, with exception of a nice probably older Snap-On ratchet.
