JH, thanks for the primer on the snap-gauges.

Let me get this right:

So I snap the inside dia on the assembled bearing shells, then mic the snap gauge. Then I mic the crank journal and subtract the two measurements? Add/remove shims to set the mains to .002", lube bearings, install crank w/o rear seal and see if she spins? Also check end-play now w/ dial indicator and feeler gauge. Then remove crank, install rear main seal, re-install crank, with thin smear of permatex on front and rear caps. See if she spins again with a little more resistance? Am I right?

If I put a torque wrench on the crank snout, at what torque should the crank begin to turn with rear seal installed?
