I'm sorry J.H. Proffit but for us folks that don't have all the fancy guages, we use plasta-guage and in 35 years I never had a bad experience with it so it can't be all that bad. You must have had a very bad experience with it to be so outspoken on it. I have seen an overhaul saved by using it, the crank and bearings were marked for one size but the bearings were not the size they were marked and the mechanic using plasta-guage caught it.
