Right...it almost negates the need to carry spares, as you'd have plenty of "warning," so-to-speak. The only "catastrophic" failures (that leave you stranded) I've had with point systems is when the condensor took a dump. So the spares are still a good idea, I s'pose.

When I bought this '48 Fleetline last month, the rubbing block had worn so much that the point gap was nearly undetectable. I'd say maybe a .003-.004 gap, max...and it was still starting and running surprisingly well!
