I'm kind of surprised we haven't heard more on the problem of certain 2 X 1 set ups having problems with the AD shifting forks on some of intakes and this problem of the radiator brace getting in the way of some of the intakes, or at least the carbs on the intakes.

From what I've seen, it is only by accident if two intakes have the same spacing between the carbs. Everyone at that time had a theory as to where the carb should sit on their own particular intake. For example, Edelbrock claimed that carbs sat on the intake exactly half way between the ports it was serving. Others seemed to think it had to do with vaccum and the carb needed to be placed so each carb had the same vaccum pull depening on that intakes design.

If you could build an air cleaner with a sliding adjustment under the canope so the fitter would move back and forth to accomodate the spacing, you would have something.
